Bee Pollen----Nature’s Superfood
A quick Google search of “Bee Pollen” will reveal descriptions such as “Nature’s perfect food” or
“Nature’s superfood”. To understand why so many people describe bee pollen this way, you
need to understand what exactly bee pollen is made of, and why it is so unique.
Bee pollen is the food of the young bee and it is approximately 40% protein. It is considered one
of nature's most completely nourishing foods, as it contains nearly all nutrients required by
humans. About half of its protein is in the form of free amino acids that are ready to be used
directly by the body. A breakdown of the rest of the compounds found in bee pollen show all the
major vitamins and minerals humans need. In fact, researchers have stated that “Honeybee
pollen is the richest source of vitamins found in nature in a single food”. Because bee pollen
contains all the nutrients needed to sustain life, it becomes obvious why it has been used as a
form of nutrition for centuries. However, bee pollen hasn’t just been used as a source of
nutrition, it has also been utilized because of its medicinal properties.
